Flood risk intelligence firm Fathom has been selected by government agency Geoscience Australia to provide comprehensive data and analytics to support flood management.
UK-based Fathom is a specialist flood risk business offering a range of world-leading off-the-shelf and bespoke solutions for organizations to accelerate their decision-making on flood risk adaptation, mitigation and response.
Following the tender evaluation, Fathom was named a preferred supplier to the Australian Government, with other agencies able to access the flood risk intelligence via Geoscience Australia’s agreement with Fathom. Interested public sector parties can access nationwide data from Fathom’s award-winning Global Flood Map, which offers a defended and undefended view of event extents across rainfall, river and coastal flooding.
Dr Andrew Smith, Chief Operating Officer at Fathom, said:
“With large-scale flood events growing in both intensity and frequency, nationwide flood risk intelligence has never been more important. With over a decade of modeling expertise and a research portfolio accumulated since 1992, we’re committed to providing Geoscience Australia with the intelligence needed to help the government plan and respond to devastating natural catastrophes. “
The Global Flood Map licensed by the Australian Government offers a consistent view of flood risk for the entire globe, for present day and in the future under a range of climate change scenarios – all while maintaining the same methodology. This adaptability is crucial for teams looking to transition from present day to future planning, and build effective flood-risk management strategies with longevity.
Our Global Flood Map can revolutionize your understanding of flood hazard.
