Dr Pete Uhe
As a Principal Scientific Developer, Pete’s role involves solving a mix of scientific challenges to improve the performance of Fathom’s models. His daily tasks include designing and configuring models, managing the data processing pipeline, ensuring climate change is accounted for, and using machine learning to develop new datasets. For Pete, using and contributing to pioneering research is a major perk of working at Fathom. Though in a different time zone to the majority of the firm (caused by living in Melbourne, Australia), Pete also enjoys the collaboration involved in his work.
He brings plenty of experience in climate and flood modeling to his role. He joined Fathom after completing his PhD at the University of Bristol where he investigated changes in flood risk with climate change. Before that, he researched climate change attribution of extreme weather events at the University of Oxford and climate modeling at CSIRO in Australia.
Outside of work, Pete enjoys spending time with his kids and in the great outdoors. You’ll often find him hiking, rock climbing, kayaking and exploring new places.
