Catastrophe Model Developer

Dr Georgia Boura

Georgia works as part of Fathom’s technical team as a catastrophe model developer and vulnerability engineer. Her job is to develop, calibrate and validate the vulnerability component of Fathom’s Global Flood Catastrophe Model.

Georgia brings a wealth of expertise in flood modeling and infrastructure resilience to her role. Before joining Fathom, she worked as a civil engineer at Transport Scotland, focusing on flood adaptation projects. She has a PhD in transport vulnerability from the University of Strathclyde and has also worked as a research assistant for several other projects in the vulnerability of transport to flooding.

It was during her PhD that she first came across Fathom via our flood models, which she used in her research. Drawn to the company’s commitment to openly sharing research and improving industry understanding of flood risk, she joined the team.

When she isn’t working, Georgia enjoys baking, drawing, painting pottery and, when the weather allows, exploring the beautiful Scottish Highlands.
