The tipping point: Where climate science and global finance collide

June 22, 2026 – 14:30 – 17:00 BST

Background

As we approach critical thresholds in the Earth’s fragile meteorological system – on track to well surpass the 2.0°C Paris Agreement limit – the risk models of the past are quickly becoming obsolete for predicting large scale climate crises. Climate tipping points threaten to cause genuinely irreversible damage and disruption to the populations, economies and vital natural ecosystems of the planet.

While the scientific community has long warned of non-linear climate shifts that could cause such levels of irreparable harm, the financial sector is well versed in climate risk, but only just beginning to grapple with the wider implications of tipping points for asset pricing, risk modeling and long-term solvency.

This London Climate Action Week, join global flood risk intelligence provider Fathom and leading voices in sustainable finance and climate risk to discuss how we move from theoretical awareness to actionable risk management, followed by a Q&A and networking drinks.

Audience: This event is primarily for climate risk professionals in banking, science & tech, investment management, pension funds and the public sector.

This is an opportunity to:

  1. Learn from senior scientists and climate risk professionals about one of the most uncertain parts of climate science.
  2. Network and collaborate with senior climate professionals in financial markets.
  3. Kick off London Climate Action Week.
